Holiday Gift

I've been casting about for something to give you guys.

No f*e*e.

No commissions.

No commitment.

No back scratching.

Just something useful you can use - either now or down the track.

I know many of you have web sites, or would like to have one soon.

I remember when I was launching my web site, or re-designing it, I really could have used a bunch of sample templates for ideas. To get a feel for the design I wanted.

But not just for inspiration - I could have really used the copyright so that I could just give one to my web designer and say 'Here - I want it like that. And we have permission so use as much of it as you want'.

And if you're on a tight web-budget, there's nothing better than landing a nice web-template to save you hun'dreds in design fees.

So that's my gift.

I've purchased the rights to one hundred and eight (yes - that's 108) web templates. And I'm passing them on to you.

You can browse them, download them, use them, alter them - whatever you like.

Thank you for all your support this year. Your feedback, kind words, trusting use of my information and products, and spreading the word about SolutionBox, is......well, it's pretty cool, and I appreciate it a lot.

Here's the link to your f'ree templates. I trust they'll come in handy:

Dear David,

Happy Holidays to you too!

Thanks for your generosity - you are indeed a role model for us all. I have listened and watched the Video, and it was informative and as I am a monkey see, mokey do type of person, that naturally appealed to me!
I did actually download the two large files rather than a selected few ... and then watched the video! Kind regards and Meta-Blessings, Lorí

Hi David,
Thank you for your generous gift. There were a couple that looked interesting to me and one that even looked like a template of my original website. www.susanparker.com

I'm going to download them as inspiration for the next web update coming this spring.

Hope you have a great holiday season and a terrific new year.

Susan

David,
While I never look a gift horse in the mouth and don't wish to appear ungrateful...you did ask for comments both positive and negative. ("Feedback? Is this useful? Yes, no?") IMO, you need to honestly ask yourself if you would ever use any of these templates yourself. I think the answer would most certainly be 'no' as your own site reflects a much more professional look and feel.

Most of these templates look as if they are from the early days of the internet and (sorry) are in somewhat poor taste. Anyone who used them for a serious or business website would LOSE traffic. Is this really the "gift" you wanted to give people? I think not.

Please...run anything like this past a committee of shrewd business companions before vending to your list. You have a lot of internet savvy people on your list - I am one of them. And I wouldn't use these templates on my granny's pictures-of-kittens site. Sorry David, I think the spirit of the gift was grand indeed, but you've really lost ground in the execution.

What would be of greater value is to have far fewer templates, but of higher quality. Many better ones, lots of them free, are available on bravenet.com and other free template sites. The filter I always use is "would I use this myself?" I suggest this step when vending such a gift in future. I hope this is helpful.

Best of Holidays to you -
Jer

David, Happy Holidays to you, et al! Your intention is lovely, yet I think the audience for this might be kids or schools, not corporate or life coaches who wish to customize their website and project a professional impression on current and prospective clients. A very thoughtful gesture, nonetheless. Best, Jamie

I'd have to agree with Jer and Jamie.. I wouldn't use any of these templates on a professional website... sorry mate..

Great points guys - and gently worded - thanks.

I agree with you. People with a decent budget could just go straight to a designer. These are more for people with no budget, or who want to get ideas to give to their designer.

I'll make a note on the page to reflect that.

Appreciate the straight feedback. And good idea on running this stuff past the committee/R&D team. Sometimes I just want to get the stuff out there.

Dear David,
I for one really appreciate the help you have provided with these templates. My budget is on the proverbial shoe string---and a short one at that! I saw about a dozen that could I can use as a springboard towards a very acceptable first site. You promised no more than that and I applaud you for your honesty and thank you for your time, effort, and generousity.
